Homily, 2-28-22; Monday of the 8th Week in Ordinary Time
After I retired, I considered a second career as a high school teacher. And so I went to Oakland University to start taking classes to become certified. But before they would let me take classes, I was required to take the state certification tests for the subjects I wanted to teach. They wanted to make sure that I knew the subject material I planned on teaching before they would let me learn how to go about actually teaching it.
So I signed up for the math and physics tests and then started to do some serious review. Although I always enjoyed math and physics, it had been a long time since I had been in a classroom. And after much studying and review, I wondered if I was ready for the state exams. And so, I found some practice exams online that gave me a chance for self-evaluation. I took the practice tests to see if I was ready to face the challenge ahead of me.
And I think this is one way we can consider the upcoming Lenten season
